Player handbook
Get more from browser games
Browser games should be easy to start, but their controls, saving, privacy, and performance can differ. This guide explains the details we check so you can choose a title that suits your device and the time you have.
Choose by input, not just genre
On a laptop or desktop, keyboard-and-mouse games usually offer the most precise aiming and movement. Touch-first games work best when their main actions fit one or two fingers and important buttons stay away from browser gestures. Every game page on this site identifies its supported input before the game loads.
Understand browser saves
Many HTML5 games store scores, settings, or progress in local browser storage. That is convenient and does not require an account, but clearing site data, using private browsing, switching browsers, or changing devices can remove that progress. Check the “Browser save” field on the game page before investing in a longer run.
Improve performance safely
If play becomes choppy, close unused high-load tabs, connect power on a laptop, and let the game finish loading before switching windows. Keep your browser current. Avoid downloading “speed boosters,” modified copies, or browser extensions offered by unrelated sites; our playable games do not require those downloads.
Know what a legitimate Play button does
On Free Computer Games, the Play button loads the game inside a clearly marked player area. It does not start a software download. Advertising, when enabled after publisher approval, is labeled and separated from game controls so it is not mistaken for Play, Continue, or Download.

How our recommendations are produced
Our summaries and tips are written from the published build and its documented mechanics. We do not publish unavailable games to inflate the catalog, and we do not claim a ranking or endorsement that has not been awarded. Read more in our publishing standards.
